Roosevelt County commissioners approved 18 resolutions to declare the existence of a county road during their meeting Tuesday, Dec. 20. The roads were around the Bainville area. The approval came after a positive public meeting was held in Bainville. “It was a good meeting,” commissioner Duane Nygaard said. A Wolf Point woman charged in the assault and kidnapping of a minor girl in Wolf Point, on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, has admitted to her role in the kidnapping, U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich said. Elmarie Amelia Weeks, 22, pleaded guilty on Dec. 14 to a superseding information charging her with kidnapping of an individual under 18. Weeks faces a mandatory minimum of 20 years to life

Danyell Rose Black Dog, 22, of Poplar appeared in Great Falls before U.S. Magistrate Judge John T. Johnston and made a plea of not guilty on charges of possession with intent to distribute meth and distribution of meth resulting in death. If convicted of the most serious crime, Black Dog faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine and three years of supervised release. Black Dog

A Montana District Court has ordered Governor Greg Gianforte to produce documents he fought for two years to withhold, rejecting the Governor’s theory that he could withhold documents merely because they relate to his position as Governor. Roosevelt County reported 49 active COVID cases as of Friday, Dec. 23. There have been 3,866 cases in the county. Roosevelt County Health Department hosts COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Wolf Point the first and third Thursdays of the month, and in Culbertson on the fourth Thursday.
