Wolf Point’s JVs swept both basketball games against Frazer during play in Wolf Point on Saturday, Dec. 11.

In the girls’ contest, the Wolves jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the first quarter and increased the margin to 21-11 at the half.

A steal and basket by Piper Ruffing put Wolf Point up 3319 after three quarters of play.

Baskets by Azalei Ackerman and Mailey Wells produced a 37-21 lead. The Bearcubs fought back with a hoop by Angeline White and a three-pointer by Audrey Smoker for a 37-26 margin, The Wolves pulled away down the stretch on baskets by Keeley Blount-Henderson, Breanna Blount and Jueliz Bauer.

Top scorers for Wolf Point were Bauer with 11, Wells with nine and Ruffing with six.

Liana Jackson scored seven points to lead the Bearcubs. Smoker and Baily Beston added six points each.

In the boys’ game, Wolf Point outscored Frazer by a 63-44 final.

The scoring of senior guard Keein Ackerman led the Bearcubs to a 14-7 lead in the first quarter. A drive by Wolf Point’s Forrest Dumont pulled the Wolves to 14-9 to end the period.

A drive by Jack Kolstad and a three-pointer by Cade Stafne put the Wolves ahead, but Ackerman connected on another three-pointer to regain the lead at 20-19.

Down by a 27-26 margin, Wolf Point accounted for the last four points of the half on baskets by Cale Jensen and Kolstad.

Wolf Point then struck for the first six points of the third quarter on a drive by Jensen, a 17-footer by Lennoxx Lilley and a basket by Dumont. Lilley scored the quarter’s final six points for a 49-33 lead.

Reaching double figures for the Wolves were Kolstad with 17, Lilley with 16, Dumon with 14 and Jensen with 10.

Leading Frazer were Ackerman with 21 and John Hotomanie with 11 points.
