Yellow Jackets Drop Final Game Against Glasgow


The Wolf Point Yellow Jackets’ season come to an end when they lost to Glasgow, 11-1, in loser-out play at the American Legion baseball district tournament on Friday, July 23.
Glasgow gained a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and increased the margin to 5-0 in the bottom of the second frame.
One of the highlights for the Yellow Jackets came in the second inning when pitcher Preston Swenson caught a throw from catcher Landon Young and twisted his body to tag out a runner trying to steal home.
After the Reds added a run in the third, Wolf Point got on the scoreboard when Swenson reached on an infield hit, stole second base, advanced to third on a bunt by Cale Jensen and then scored on a balk.
Glasgow scored one run in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the sixth to end the game by the 10-run rule.
Swenson pitched a solid four and one-third innings for the Wolves before leaving the mound because of the maximum pitches rule.
