Poplar Wrestlers Place At State


Two Poplar wrestlers placed at the Class B state meet held in Shelby on Friday and Saturday, March 5-6.
Jase Frederick earned fifth place at 120 pounds. He is a three-time state placer.
Frederick outpointed Drew Carey of Plains/Hot Springs, 5-1, in the fifth-place match.
Jacob Berger placed sixth at heavyweight. He is a twotime state placer.
Mitchell Youngman came one match away from placing. Also wrestling well for the Indians were Tyler Pribbernow, Marcus Genia, Kameron Reum and Kaelen Smith.
“We had a good tournament and wrestled tough,” Poplar coach Jason Frederick said. “We had a great year and I look forward to next year already.”
Glasgow repeated as the Class B team champion with 181 points. Huntley Project placed second with 151 points. Circle repeated as the Class C champion and placed third in the B/C standings with 96 points. Poplar took 22nd place with 30 points. Wolf Point scored nine points.
