Wolf Point Falls Short Against Glasgow Squad


Wolf Point put together a strong fight but fell to district rival Glasgow in loser-out play during the Northern B divisional volleyball tournament in Conrad on Friday, Nov. 6.
The Wolves dropped the match by a final score of 25-23, 19-25, 13-25, 22-25.
Wolf Point led early in the first game, but Glasgow ran off six straight points to grab a 14-10 advantage. Two aces by Demi Kegley tied the game at 15-15.
The Wolves earned a 21-19 lead on a kill by 5-10 freshman Sierra Hamilton. The teams then battled to a 23-23. Wolf Point won the first set on two kills by sophomore J’Elle Garfield.
After Glasgow took a 17-9 advantage in the second set, the Wolves fought back on a kill by Hamilton and a tip by Gracie Ferdina. The Scotties moved ahead 22-13 until Wolf Point’s Kayden Sibley came through with a kill.
With Glasgow up 24-16, the Wolves came as close as 24-19 on kills by Mikaya Smoker- Dewitt and Garfield.
The Scotties controlled the action in the third set. They broke from a 9-7 game to take a 21-10 advantage and won by the 25-13 final.
In the fourth set, the net play of Olson and Smoker-Dewitt led the Wolves to a 15-11 advantage.
A kill by Sarah Williamson helped Wolf Point take a 22-17 advantage.
Glasgow scored the final eight points of the match for a 25-22 final.
Smoker-Dewitt led the Wolves with seven kills. Having two blocks each were Olson, Sibley and Hamilton.
Katleyn MacDonald had 18 digs while Kegley had 14 digs.
Leading Wolf Point in assists were Gracie Ferdina with 14 and Kylie Rodenberg with 13.
Glasgow’s Tyann Graham accounted for two aces, six kills, two assists and 11 digs.
Rachelle Glaser finished 29 assists and one block. Abrianna Nielsen finished with 15 kills and three aces. Riley Noser scored 11 kills and two aces.
Fairfield defeated Choteau in the divisional championship match. The Class B state tournament begins Thursday, Nov. 12, in Shelby.
