Indians And Lady Indians Face Possible District Tournament Play-In Games

With the basketball schedule winding down, Poplar’s Lady Indians are facing a loser- out play-in game with Wolf Point to determine which team enters the District 2B tournament in Malta Thursday and Friday, Feb. 20-21, the No. 4 seed and which team goes home.

For the Indians, a play-in is likely, possibly with Glasgow.

Both Poplar varsity teams began the season with high hopes for this season, but both have remained in fourth and fifth places in the fiveteam District 2B.

The Indians and Lady Indians will finish the schedule at conference-leading Harlem Saturday, Feb. 15.

The Lady Indians pocketed a 40-29 non-conference win over Fairview Friday, Feb. 7.

The Indians dropped their game with Fairview 78-21.

“[We] had one game Friday [and] picked up a “W” in Fairview,” Lady Indians’ head coach Les Bighorn said.

“The flu bug hit us. It’s good to get the bug now instead of district week,” he said.

“The conference is a tough one and I think whoever puts together three games of good ball will advance from the play-in game,” Bighorn said. Fairview Boys 78, Poplar 21
