Eastern Montana Gymnastics Compete In Great Falls

Only five gymnasts from Eastern Montana Gymnastics competed at the Rocky Mountain Cup in Greats Falls Feb. 8, but the girls still managed to come away with several top awards.

Of the 38 gymnasts in all age groups in the Xcel silver competition, Lily Beery of Circle had the first-place balance beam routine with her score of 9.65 and tied for the first-place vault with a score of 9.45.

She and her sister, Ella, an Xcel bronze gymnast, each won first place for their allaround scores in their age groups and each had two first-place event finishes in their age groups.

Silver gymnast Ava Hove of Circle also had a first-place age-group finish.

Gyms from Great Falls, Missoula, Hamilton, Glendive, Livingston and Billings competed at the meet. Medals were given for top five all-around finishes in each age group and ribbons were awarded in each event to all gymnasts according to their scores.

Four EMG silver gymnasts competed in the younger age group of 10 gymnasts. Besides her first places for all-around, vault and beam, Lily Beery was second on bars and floor. Hove’s first place was for her floor routine and she was third for her all-around, fifth on bars, seventh on beam and tied for sixth on vault.

Kate Nasner of Wolf Point was tied for second on beam, was third on vault, fifth on floor, sixth on bars and was fourth for her all-around.

Ashlynn Johannessen of Wolf Point was tied for fourth for her vault and was fourth for her floor, eighth for her beam, ninth for bars and was seventh for her all-around.

Ella Beery competed in the youngest bronze age group of five gymnasts. Besides her first-place all-around, she was first on vault and bars, fourth on beam and was tied for second on floor.

Silver scores (vault, bars, beam, floor, all-around): L. Beery (9.45, 9.05, 9.65, 8.9, 37.05), Hove (8.9, 8.75, 8.65, 9.0, 35.3), Nasner (9.05, 8.65, 9.05, 8.45, 35.2), Johannessen (8.95, 8.25, 8.55, 8.6, 34.35).

Bronze scores: E. Beery (8.6, 8.6 8.45, 8.5, 34.15).

EMG’s next meet will be in Jamestown, N.D., which should include most of the gyms in North Dakota and should be very competitive.
