County Seeks Water Tester For Brockton

Testing the water supply in Brockton has become a challenge, according to a legal notice published in this newspaper Nov. 14. The notice, addressed to all community of Brockton water users, states, “We are required to monitor your drinking water for total coliform bacteria on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. During September 2019, we did not complete all monitoring for total coliform bacteria and therefore cannot be sure of the quality of our drinking water during that time.”

Operator illness was listed as the reason for the failure to test.

According to Roosevelt County Commissioner Gordon Oelkers, the county is actively seeking a certified water tester and will be interviewing at least one qualified candidate prior to the next regular commissioners’ meeting, Nov. 26.

Oelkers said the county has been working with the Fort Peck Tribes to find a longterm solution to managing Brockton’s municipal affairs. He said the town is now currently debt-free.

According to Oelkers, an October water sample has been analyzed and was found to be safe.
