Poplar Girls Defeat Wolf Point In District 2B Battle


Poplar’s girls’ basketball team overcame a strong start by Wolf Point to win by a 4727 final in league play on Saturday, Jan. 20. A basket by Azalei Ackerman and five points by Kylie Rodenberg put the Wolves ahead 7-3 during the game’s first three minutes of play. After Poplar’s Kessee Erickson scored off a rebound, Wolf Point’s Juellz Bauer canned a three-pointer for a 10-5 margin.

Poplar Boys Fight Off Wolves, 61-53


In an action packed contest in front of dedicated fans, Poplar emerged with a 61-53 win over Wolf Point in boys’ basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 20. The visiting Indians gained a 33-29 half-time lead. Poplar was able to extend the margin to 44-38 on a turnaround shot by Kaniel Ricker and an inside shot by Walker Burshia late in the third quarter. Wolf Point gained some momentum back

Poplar Falls Against Malta In District 2B Basketball Action


Malta’s boys’ basketball squad put together an impressive effort to defeat Poplar, 71-38, in District 2B action on Friday, Jan. 19. Malta led by only an 11-7 margin at the end of the first quarter, and a three-pointer by Poplar’s Delray Lilley pulled the Indians to 11-10 at the start of the second period. Kaniel Ricker connected on a three-pointer for a 13-13 deadlock with 7:05 left
