Roosevelt County has hired a law firm to represent the county in the case regarding attorney Janet Christoffersen. The law firm of Smith, Oblander, Meade and Mitcham has been hired by the county to represent the county. The law firm has filed a request to substitute District Judge David Cybulski. Roosevelt County commissioners approved a motion to put out bids for three lots during their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 15. The three lots are located in one area near First Avenue. The county took over ownership due to unpaid taxes in July of 2007. “It’s a vacant lot, but has some cement left from an old basement,” Commissioner Gordon Oelkers said. After being advertised in

Three hearings took place in district court under Judge David J. Cybulski on Wednesday, Aug. 16. Matthew Lavelle Harris was sentenced for two charges. He was originally facing seven charges including attempted escape in Roosevelt County. Along with the felony charge of attempted escape, there were two felony criminal mischief charges. The other four charges were for misdemeanor criminal mischief.
