Culbertson native Aiden Perkins has been honored for his football accomplishment at Montana State University- Northern. Perkins, a sophomore, was selected as MSU-Northern’s recipient of the Champion of Character award. He is a defensive lineman for the Northern Lights. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Champions of Character program is to change the culture of sport.

The Bainville High School football team averaged a 3.28 grade point average during the first quarter. The varsity players averaged a 3.54 grade point average. Bainville’s volleyball team scored a 3.66 grade point average. The varsity GPA average was 3.58. Earning Academic All-State honors in football were Logan Josephson, Reed Winn, Trevor Robertus, Rowan Wilson and Kaiden Holmes.

Mada Martell Bergie admitted during a hearing in district court on Wednesday, Nov. 15, that she violated the conditions of her probation. Bergie received a deferred imposition of sentence for intimidation in 2021. Judge David Cybulski noted that the maximum penalty for intimidation is 10 years in prison, a $50,000 fine or both. A corrections officer who worked at the Fort Peck Tribe’s detention center admitted last week to a civil rights violation for assaulting an inmate, U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich said. Devin Gray Hawk, 20, of Poplar, pleaded guilty to an information charging him with deprivation of rights. Gray Hawk faces a maximum of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.
