News that several fires combined to keep multiple departments busy over the weekend north of Culbertson. Approximately 2,000 acres burned near Sugar Top Hill before it was extinguished Sunday.

After some debate, Roosevelt County commissioners continued having a split vote regarding a pay increase for a Roosevelt County attorney office’s employee on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

As of late last week, the state reported that Roosevelt County had 26 cases.
That figure is lower than some other Eastern Montana counties including Valley with 41, Richland with 71, Dawson with 33, Custer with 179 and Hill with 166.

The Town of Froid held a public budget hearing Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m.
According to clerk LeAnn Krumwiede Johnson, the council went through the budget line by line and decided to approve the maximum number of mills.
After the budget meeting, the council held the regular monthly meeting. It was called to order at 7:25 p.m.

Duane Peters, Sidney Sugars’ agricultural manager, is predicting harvest will begin in Culbertson on either Monday, Oct. 4, or Tuesday, Oct 5.
As of Tuesday, Sept. 28, Sidney Sugars was pre-piling in Sugar Valley, Savage and the factory.

The Roosevelt County commissioners approved a bid from Bishop Inc. for gravel during a meeting held on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
The county received bids from three different companies.
Fike Crushing’s bid was 13,500 tons of one-inch minus crushed gravel for the amount of $4.50 per ton for the Schagunn Pitt. Total bid was $60,750.
