Roosevelt County residents are reminded that the deadline to file as a town council candidate is Wednesday, June 11, at 5 p.m. Culbertson Mayor Todd Gabriel has filed for re-election. Council candidates at this point are incumbent Mark Nelson in Ward 2 and Shadd Cullinan in Ward 2 and David Solem in Ward 1. Toby Romo has filed for re-election as Bainville’s mayor. Medicine Lake is planning its allschool reunion from June 20-22. Registration runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20. The school will be open for people to walk through. The senior citizen center is available from 1-5 p.m. on both June 20 and June 21. A kickball tournament begins at 3 p.m. on June 30 at the baseball field. A kids carnival is scheduled from 3-6 p.m. at the school.

The annual Northeast Montana Treasure Trail garage sale super event is coming this weekend, June 6-7. Fifty miles of garage and estate sales are planned between Plentywood and Sioux Pass on Highway 16. The sales draw visitors from far and wide and offer a good day of people watching and opportunistic snacking as well. The organizers behind a successful outdoor flea market in Brockton are at it again this year with an event planned during the Badlands Celebration weekend June 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The location is the parking lot behind the B& S Quickstop. There will be vendors, rummage sale tables, baked goods and crafts. There will be a breakfast sale of biscuits and gravy beginning at 8 a.m.

After attending the National Association of Counties’ conference held in South Dakota, Roosevelt County Commissioner Gordon Oelkers feels the county should add a visual crisis program that allows law enforcement to connect people in crisis with mental health officials. The system, already used in Montana by Custer County, gives individuals in crisis the chance to communicate through an iPad

Many area school districts recently received good news when the Montana Accreditation Report by the Office of Public Instruction was released. Culbertson earned regular scores for elementary, junior high and high school levels. Brockton had regular scores for its elementary, 7-8 grade and high school. Bainville also earned regular scores for its elementary, 7-8 grade and high school.
