This week, the Montana Department of Transportation and Knife River will continue to excavate and pour concrete along U.S. Highway 2. Crews will be working throughout the project area to accommodate the curing time of the concrete. Work will take place Monday through Saturday, from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Traffic will be restricted to one lane and controlled by flaggers or traffic signals.

The Roosevelt County Fair Clean-Up Day will be Thursday, July 27, beginning at 6 p.m. Fair organizers encourage service organizations, 4-H clubs, FFA chapters, those who want to volunteer time, and more to participate. All are asked to come prepared to paint, pull weeds, and anything else needed to finish preparation before the fair. Water and lemonade will be provided.

Valley County Sheriff Tom Boyer reported that, on Thursday July 6, at 8:40 a.m., the Valley County Sheriff’s Office responded to one of the cabin areas of Fort Peck Lake for an unresponsive 2-year-old boy found in the water. The child, who was from Billings, had been staying with relatives in the area. The sheriff’s statement did not identify which cabin area the child was found near.

As a result of taxpayers’ concern about the impacts of the new appraisal values of property that will go into effect this fall, the Montana Department of Revenue is holding public meetings across the state. Meetings in the area will include: Tuesday, July 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Richland County Fair Event Center in Sidney. Wednesday, July 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the McCone County Fairgrounds
