Woman Charged With Drug Possession

Hattie Lei Turcotte has been arrested for the charges of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony, and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Bail was set at $75,000. She is scheduled to make her initial appearance in district court on March 10. If convicted of the felony charge, Turcotte faces maximum penalties of 5 years in prison, a $5,000 fine or both. The Froid/Lake Red Hawks won their first District 2C boys’ basketball tournament championship since 2006 when they defeated MonDak, 62-27, in Sidney on Saturday, Feb. 20. “It’s huge,” Froid/Lake Coach Josh Stentoft said about winning the district title. Froid/Lake Girls Place Second

The Froid/Lake girls’ basketball team couldn’t get its offense going as the Red Hawks fell to Plentywood, 42-24, in the District 2C tournament’s championship game on Friday, Feb. 19. The Red Hawks trailed by an 8-2 margin early, but Mara Salvevold scored off an assist from Dasani Nesbit late in the opening quarter. A basket by Ashtyn Curtiss put Plentywood ahead 10-4 to end the quarter.

The Froid/Lake girls’ basketball team couldn’t get its offense going as the Red Hawks fell to Plentywood, 42-24, in the District 2C tournament’s championship game on Friday, Feb. 19.
