Senior Standouts
Culbertson High School senior Abbey Granbois looks at trying to continue reaching new heights in her life.
Her activities at the school include cheerleading, track and cross-country.
Granbois explains that her favorite sport is track.
“It’s more of a family sport,” Granbois said. “We’re a bigger team working together.”

After Serious Accident, Crowder Is Thankful For Every Day
Although this Thanksgiving might be a bit untraditional for some people because of COVID and social distancing concerns, Larry Crowder of Culbertson knows every Thanksgiving and every day is a time to be thankful.
About a year and half ago, on July 4, 2019, Crowder came close to losing a leg or even his life due to a boating accident at Nelson Reservoir close to 20 miles outside of Malta.
Culbertson JMG Holds Food Drive
The Nashua Jobs for Montana Graduates program is partnering with area students to offer the Sponsoring A Child program Nov. 12-Dec. 8.
They will put together totes for children heading into foster care. Supplies suggested by the Department of Public Health and Human Services include toothbrushes, toothpastes, chap stick, flashlights, combs/brushes, mouthwash, floss, baby wipes, deodorant, fleece
Kirby Selected To All State Honor Choir
Several Culbertson students have been selected for the 2020 Honorary Montana All State Choir.
Zachary Kirby was named to the Honor Choir. Alicyn Ator and Noelle Wilson were named to the Cantabile Choir. Joe Stewart was named to the Nova Choir. The Northwest Festival Virtual Choir concert will be available for streaming in December. For more information, visit mhsa.org.
Marty Lone Bear
Marty Darrell Lone Bear, 62, of Poplar died Nov. 10, 2020, at Billings Clinic in Billings.
He was born to Adelbert Lone Bear Sr. and Irene Pearl Martin on April 26, 1958, at their home in Shell Creek, N.D. He grew up in New Town, but spent most of his adult life on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. He was an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes located in North Dakota.
