Malta’s boys’ basketball squad put together an impressive effort to defeat Poplar, 71-38, in District 2B action on Friday, Jan. 19. Malta led by only an 11-7 margin at the end of the first quarter, and a three-pointer by Poplar’s Delray Lilley pulled the Indians to 11-10 at the start of the second period. Poplar Girls Drop League Contest Against Malta


In a contest involving two District 2B contenders, Malta edged Poplar by a 51-42 final in girls’ basketball action on Friday, Jan. 19. The Indians trailed by a 28-20 half-time margin. A three-pointer by Cammie Martell kept the Indians close at 31-23 early in the third quarter. Malta then ran off 10 straight points, including three-pointers by Kendall Clausen and Kelbie Nelson, to grab a 41-23

The Wolf Point Wolves wrestled in Moorcroft, Wyo., during the weekend. Wolf Point Coach Scott Vandall said Camden Doorneck and Tavian Bell wrestled well in the JV portion of the tournament.
