Indians Come Up Short Against Malta
Poplar had its first home volleyball match of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The Indians dropped the match against conference rival Malta by a 16-25, 9-25, 9-25, final.
“Our serving was decent,” Poplar Coach William Bemer said. “Our digs were pretty good.”
The players still need to work on communication and trusting each other.
“We’re very young,” Bemer said.

Bearcubs Compete At Scobey Invite
The Frazer Bearcubs ran well at the cross-country meet held in Scobey on Thursday, Sept. 9.
Frazer’s Ty Fourstar, a sophomore, finished in 28th place with a time of 29:42.49.
In the girls’ division, the Bearcubs had 71 points for eighth place.
Alyssa Toce Blount took 20th place at 27:38.10. Shakira Beston was 21st at 28:13.43.

Poplar Earns Honors In Scobey
Poplar earned first in the girls’ division and second in the boys’ division during the Scobey Invitational held on Thursday, Sept. 9.
The Indians topped the girls’ team standings with 17 points followed by Scobey with 23 points and Plentywood with 36 points.
Leading Poplar was Jazmin Gorder with a time of 22:27.70 for a fourth-place showing.

Summers Finishes First In Havre
Wolf Point’s Peyton Summers ran to first-place honors at the Havre Invitational held on Saturday, Sept. 11.
Summers, a sophomore, ran the course in 17:17.93 for top honors. Havre’s sophomore Caleb Tomac placed second at 17:22.63.
Wolf Point’s Kholby Spotted Wolf finished third in 17:29.46.
Ethan Blount of Wolf Point took seventh place at 18:17.45.

Lady Wolves Have Busy Weekend
The Wolf Point Wolves earned two volleyball victories during the Scobey Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 11.
During pool play, the Wolves downed Nashua, 15-2, 15-13, and Wibaux, 15-8, 15-13.
Sierra Hamilton led Wolf Point with eight kills against Nashua. Kylie Rodenberg finished with 14 assists. Katelyn MacDonald served seven aces. Sarah Williamson had three digs.

Lady Wolves Score Volleyball Victory Over Baker Squad
The Lady Wolves opened their home volleyball schedule on a high note by beating Baker, 25-21, 25-22, 19-25, 27-25, on Friday, Sept. 3.
“We worked on transition all week, we did that so much better, and our blocking was better,” Wolf Point Coach Kim Hanks said. “It was a good team win.”

Poplar Hosts Cross-Country Meet September 4
Poplar’s cross-country squad hosted the Poplar Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Mattie Falls Down, a freshman, led Poplar’s girls by taking 10th place with a time of 22:58.60.
Jazmyn Carry Water finished 11th at 23:23.98. Bailey Dupree took 23rd at 26:10.66.
Precious Keiser finished 45th at 28:54.67. Teagan Escarcega took 48th at 29:09.32.
Rikki Belton ran the course in 30:15.02
