Asher Wayne Lester, seven months, of Poplar died Jan. 17, 2025. He was born June 13, 2024, to Fred Lester and Avery Azure. In his seven months of life, he was full of smiles, laughter and sweet baby kisses with a love that radiated throughout the whole room. He loved being in his swing that his father hung from the living room ceiling. He loved his tummy time, which quickly became him learning to Army crawl throughout the house playing with his toys. He loved cuddles with his parents, playing with his brothers while chasing them around in this walker. He was so fast; he zoomed all over in that thing! He loved his adventures out to Grandma Brandy’s, where he knew he wouldn’t let her have empty arms. He was definitely the boss. Asher started rolling over at four months old, which came with two little teeth, then he was Army crawling by six months old. He is survived by his parents; five brothers, Sebastian, Roman, Kade, Nixon and Urijah; grandparents, Brandy Smith, Durand Zoanni, Sissy and Butch Little and Calvin Lester; and great-grandparents Kate Murray, Sandy Azure and Darlene Lefthand. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment was in the Poplar City Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.

Harold David “Buck” Brown, 81, of Fort Worth, Texas, died Oct. 2, 2024. He was born Feb. 10, 1943, in Hinsdale to Harold Martin and Erma Fay (Hartley) Brown. He lived with his mother and grandfather in Hinsdale while his father served in World War II. When his father returned home two years later, the family settled on the South Bench to farm. As the eldest of four brothers, he was often charged with helping around the farm from breaking horses to driving the tractor. He was also an avid athlete, but basketball was his true love. He played for Nashua when they moved to Fort Peck when he was in the 11th grade. From an early age, his parents encouraged him to get all the education he could. After graduating from Nashua High School in 1961, he earned a full ride basketball scholarship to Carroll College in Helena. He graduated in 1965 with a degree in political science. While working for the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in Helena, he met Bonnie Rae Kositzky. They were wed on Feb. 7, 1970. Their honeymoon to Spain sparked their desire to live and work internationally. After completing an MBA at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona, he worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative in Minnesota and New Jersey until he could find an assignment that would take him overseas. The first opportunity would take him to Jakarta, Indonesia. As was the practice, he went early to ensure he was a fit for the ex-pat assignment. Before Bonnie could join him, he was promoted to a new assignment in Hong Kong. A promotion would take them to Madrid, Spain, in 1975 where their children, Jason and Jessica, were born. They traveled widely, exploring the new country with their children. The ex-pat life was seldom settled as they moved to Santiago, Chile, back to Spain, then to Fort Worth, Texas, Severna Park, Md., Montana and back to Fort Worth. They

Clifford Phillip Jerome, 70, of Poplar died Jan. 9, 2025, at the Poplar Community Hospital. Also known as Clank or Chi Chi B, he was born Nov. 21, 1954, to Leonard Jerome and Evangeline Sipto. He attended school at Poplar Schools but later obtained his GED. In May 1986, he graduated from Lake Region Community College in Devils Lake, N.D., receiving his diploma in farm tractor and diesel mechanics. He worked for a time as a split netter for Dakota Tribal Industries in Fort Totten, N.D., and at a trucking company in Billings. In his early years, he met and married Linda Melbourne and, to this union, came their son Thomas. He later met Patricia McKay and, to this union, came Tana and Evangeline. He then met Roberta Bell and, to this relationship, Doris was born. After living in the Sheyenne and Devils Lake, N.D., areas for a great many years, he came to Montana where he remained until his death. He loved working on vehicles and, if anyone needed anything done, he was quick to help until his health forced him to quit doing what he loved. He loved cruising around with his buddies having

Harold Arthur Kuehne, a devoted husband, father, and skilled artisan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, at 11:10 p.m., in Logan Hospital of Kalispell. He was surrounded by his loving wife, three adoring children and daughter-in-law who admired him greatly. Harold was born on May 23, 1941, as the third son of Henry and Nina Kuehne. He spent his early years on the family farm, where he developed a deep love for agriculture and livestock. Helping his father farm and raise cattle, Harold learned the values of hard work and dedication. He pursued higher education at Northern Montana College in Havre, earning a degree in agricultural science. As his father retired, Harold took over the family farming and ranching business, continuing the traditions. Horseback riding became a part of his daily life, especially during the large community branding parties that were an annual highlight in the area. In 1968, Harold married the love of his life, Alice Ann Schlepp. Together, they raised four children: Edward Arthur, April Amber, Deborah Lynn, and John Alan. Tragically, their son John preceded Harold in death in 1990. Seeking new adventures, Harold attended Saddle Making School in Bishop, Calif. Following this passion, he and Alice sold their farm and moved to Columbus, Mont., where they opened a saddle shop. Ross Patrick Ruhd, 48, of Wolf Point died Jan. 8, 2025, in Great Falls. He was born on July 30, 1976, in Wolf Point to Kiyo and Rockie Ruhd. He was referred to as the “Gentle Giant” by his grandmother, Myrle, and it rang true throughout his life. He was the big brother and one of the older cousins growing up and always cared for and protected them. He loved spending time with family and playing a card game called “one card,” trying to win that pot of quarters. He had a loud, contagious laugh and was always so friendly to those around him. Florence Marie Unrau Chambers, 87, died Dec. 30, 2024. She was born in Wolf Point to David and Marie Unrau on Oct. 10, 1937. Being the oldest of five children, she was very busy helping her mother and father, she even talks about driving tractor and cultivating corn. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized as a teenager. She attended an one-room school all eight grades and graduated from Lustre Bible Academy. She was a good musician, playing the piano, accordion and trombone. She attended Northwestern Bible College, Grace Bible Institute and graduated from Immanuel Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, Neb., in 1960, where she met and married Dan Chambers. They then moved back to his hometown close to Buffalo, N.Y., and she started her long career as a nurse. She also had a sign business with Dan for many years, D. C. Advertising, Inc. They enjoyed doing things together like attending Notre Dame football games, boating and camping on the weekends. After Dan’s death in 1995, she retired from her job but kept her nursing degree up to date and was still volunteering in areas around Buffalo. She was very good at remembering birthdays, ages and sending cards to her siblings, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed having guests and brought them to Niagara Falls and other interesting sites nearby. She was quite adventurous and enjoyed traveling with family members.

Diane Francis Piane, 87, of Livingston, formerly of Wolf Point, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at Livingston Health-Care. Services will be held in the spring.

Duane D. Meidinger, 66, of Glasgow died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at Valley View Home in Glasgow. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Services are being planned for Saturday, March 15. The time and location will be announced closer to time of service.
