Valerie Dee BlackDog, “Little Owl Woman,” Hinhen Cikana Win, 54, of Fort Kipp died Nov. 24, 2020.
She was born Dec. 18, 1965, to Ronald H. Brown and Vina M. GreyBear. She attended various schools in Montana, North Dakota, Idaho and Utah.
In 1983, she met Duane A. BlackDog. They have two daughters, Vina and Delaine. Val and Duane finally married in 2011.
She was something to someone, a wife, mother grandmother, sister, aunt…but all in all she was family. She was a loving person, and she gave what she got.
When she was on the go, she made sure she looked her best as she was taking care of the needs for her family. Listening to music, her husband Duane was the drummer for the “BlackDogs.” She has recordings of their music. She loved that “old-time rock and roll.”
Visits with her were serious at first, then came the laughter. She had a contagious laugh. When things got too serious, she would do or say something to make us laugh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane A. BlackDog; brother, Ronald W. Brown; and sisters, Vonnie R. Brown and Denise Longtree.
She is survived by daughters, Vina and Delaine, both of Poplar; eight grandchildren; and brothers, Lance Brown and Delano Longtree.
A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, we are asking that all services be attended by close family and friends. Masks are required for all services. Interment will be at Fort Kipp Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel assisted with the arrangements.
