The Montana Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill on Monday, Jan. 18, that is aimed to prevent lawsuits against businesses regarding COVID-19 cases. Senate Bill 65 passed by a 37-13 vote and now heads to the Montana House. Wolf Point Man Granted Patent For Device

Dr. Justin Blessinger, an alumnus of Wolf Point High School, has been granted a provisional patent for an assistive technology device. This is thought to be the first patent granted at Dakota State University. Blessinger is director of the AdapT Lab at Madison Cyber Labs (Mad-Labs), and a professor of English at Dakota State University in Madison, S.D. The device, currently called a Power Block,

Poplar’s boys’ basketball squad dropped league games against Malta and Glasgow during the weekend. The Indians lost to Malta by a 66-43 final Friday, Jan. 15. The Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center has postponed its 2020 Inductee Recognition Ceremony and Western Heritage Gathering, normally held in early February each year, to Saturday, Aug. 14. “Due to local restrictions and an abundance of caution related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are pushing back our annual celebration,” said MCHF executive director Christy Stensland.
