Change of pleas were among the hearings in Roosevelt County District Court in front of District Judge Benjamin Fosland on Tuesday, March 24. Luis Manuel Alvarez Jr. changed his pleas to guilty for the amended charge of negligent endangerment, a misdemeanor, and theft under $1,500. Based on a joint plea agreement, Alvarez was sentenced to one year in jail with all but 26 days suspended.

The Fort Peck Tribes have been awarded a $493,760 grant under the Office on Violence Against Women Rural Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking Program. The goal of this three-year project is to enhance the safety of rural victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

A meeting to discuss the proposed Bridger Pipeline attracted about 50 individuals in Bainville earlier this month. “The meeting went really well,” Fallon County Commissioner Kevin Braun, a member of the PRO-Montana group, said. Braun explained that the goal of the meeting was to address how landowners can work and negotiate with pipeline officials. “I didn’t hear much negatively,”

The Montana Highway Patrol is warning Montanans of fraudulent text message scams claiming a final notice for a traffic violation. MHP will never request payment or alert you of a suspended driver license by phone or text message. To pressure recipients into providing their personal information and/or money, scammers are sending urgent text messages with fake payment deadlines and, in some cases,
