Poplar Student Earns Reach Higher Scholarship


Alexis Culbertson, a Poplar High School senior, will receive a $500 scholarship for winning sixth place in Reach Higher Montana’s Design- A-Sticker, Win A Scholarship competition. In addition, the art program at Poplar High School will receive a $250 donation from Reach Higher Montana to purchase supplies for the program. Poplar Woman Dies In Auto Crash


Jasmine Bridges, a 25-yearold Poplar woman, died from injuries in a rollover vehicle accident east of Wolf Point on Wednesday, April 7. Jeff Kemp of the Montana Highway Patrol said the crash happened at about 3 p.m. on Highway 25, mile marker 51, when Bridges was driving a 2003 Honda Accord westbound toward Wolf Point. Three individuals were transported to Fort Peck tribal jail after being stopped by the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s office on Wednesday, April 7. The incident included a short chase, damage to a sheriff’s vehicle and an injury to a deputy.

Multiple Grass Fires Threaten Poplar Homes


Poplar Fire Chief Dave Mathison, the Poplar Volunteer Fire Department and numerous other fire agencies from around the area fought off several fires threatening homes on the east end of Poplar over the holiday weekend.
