Roosevelt County voters narrowed the field of candidates to two candidates in a pair of elections during the primary held on Tuesday, June 4. Advancing to the general election in the county attorney race were current deputy county attorney Thomas Bleicher with 560 votes and former county attorney Ralph “Jim” Patch with 465 votes. Current county attorney Theresa Diekhans received 359 votes.

A 50-year-old man from Reserve was a fatality victim in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Glacier County east of Browning June 9 at about 4:40 p.m. near mile marker 226 of U.S. Highway 2. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the man was driving a motorcycle and had a 51-year-old passenger, also from Reserve. The Roosevelt County Commissioners approved two bids for gravel during a meeting last week. Bishop Inc. of Malta was awarded both of the bids. One of the bids was for 13,500 tons of three-quarter inch minus gravel to be stockpiled at the Colgan Pit, located six miles north of Poplar. Delivery is to be completed by Oct. 15.
