The Wolf Point City Council held its regular meeting Monday, Sept. 16. During the public comment period, a local resident asked for a variance to make room for a car port, which extends six feet into a city owned right of way. BNSF can confirm at approximately 5:25 p.m. mountain time Wednesday, Sept. 18, one locomotive and two cars derailed near Wolf Point. There were no injuries to the crew and there was no threat to the public. The cause is under investigation. (Photo submitted)

The Brockton community is planning a Trunk or Treat event Oct. 19, behind the B& S Quickstop and Fred’s parking lots. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated trunks. The event will include a farmer’s market, games, contests and a cornhole tournament. Vendors will need to bring their own tables. Friesen’s Floral is closed for two weeks Sept. 23-Oct. 3 for painting and renovations at their Wolf Point location. A planned reopening is set for Oct. 4-5. New products and services are in the works. In the meantime, orders will be accepted for delivery or pickup via phone from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
