With 28 students involved with the program, Wolf Point’s speech and drama team is looking forward to an exciting season. The Wolves have their first meet in Sidney on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Head coach Jacob Boysun says the turnout is the most he’s ever seen for the activity in Wolf Point. The number includes seven seniors and eight eighth-graders.

Seniors on the team are Nora Hansen, Owen Moran, Thomas Moudree, Maya Deserly, William Schwarzrock, Reilly Rees and TJ Hanley.

Hansen and Deserly are the team’s captains.

Moran and Moudree won the divisional championship in humorous theater last season and placed third at the Class B state competition.

Hansen earned the divisional title in mime.

Rees placed sixth at the state meet in mime as a junior.

Assistant coaches are Jaki Harada and Chase Adams. Harada covers some speech categories and mime while Adams works with students for individual events.

Boysun is pleased with the amount of seniors on the squad.

“There’s a lot of new kids too, but they are picking it up quickly,” he said.

After placing second in Class B sweeps at the divisional level last season, the Wolves look to unseat Huntley Project this time around.

“This year, we’re hoping to with almost 30 kids,” Boysun said.

A big highlight this year is that Wolf Point is hosting the divisional competition on Jan. 23, 2027.

Boysun said about 12-13 Class B teams will be at the meet. The top eight in each category advance to the state level.
