Culbertson Chamber Raises Funds For Scholarships

A meal served at the Roosevelt County Fair brought community members together and raised $921 for Culbertson High School scholarships, according to a report at the Culbertson Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture’s Sept. 17 meeting.

Chamber President Wayne Hendrickson said roughly 350 people were served, with nine chamber members volunteering.

The scholarship money came from a free-will donation jar at the meal. Hendrickson said the chamber received positive comments about the food and plans to order pre-shredded meat next year to make preparation easier.

The chamber also approved a request to help Culbertson High School pay for the hospitality room during the district volleyball tournament.

The contribution will be capped at the amount the chamber gave last year; the minutes did not state a dollar figure.

Members discussed the community events calendar, including a possible RMHF Medieval Knights Gala on Oct. 17 or 24. A holiday event sponsored by the Women’s Club and Lions Club is planned for December, though no date has been announced.

Terri Merrill reported that she is looking into what it would take to establish a walking trail in Culbertson. The chamber also noted that its regular meetings will move to Wednesdays at 3 p.m. and that chamber elections will take place in December.

The treasurer reported a year-to-date balance of $6,822.02. Members approved the March and July meeting minutes; the May minutes were unavailable.

The chamber’s next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m.
