Fladager Excels In Variety Of Areas

Scobey High School senior Ashtynn Fladager keeps very involved at the school through programs such as Business Professionals of America along with sports.

She serves as the vice president for the school’s BPA chapter.

“It’s a good social environment. You get to know a lot of people,” Fladager said of BPA. “It also helps with testing skills.”

Last spring, Fladager qualified for the national BPA conference by placing second at the state level for health concepts. She placed in the top five for all her events at the state competition.

This school year, she serves as the editor for Scobey’s yearbook staff.

“It’s real creative,” Fladager said of working for the yearbook. “You get to look at everything in the school and take pictures.”

She has good history with photography since she assists her mother taking photos at athletic contests. While her mother likes to take photos more, Ashtynn enjoys editing them.

The senior’s other involvement also includes being a representative on student council.

As far as sports, she competes in cross country and golf.

She has participated in cross country for two junior high seasons and four high school seasons.

“Our team environment is good,” Fladager said. “Everybody is friendly.”

Her goal is to finish her cross country career on a strong note.

She placed 13th at last year’s Class C state golf tournament. She has qualifi ed for the state meet each of her high school seasons.

“I started golf not knowing how to do a swing,” she laughed.

In the classroom, her favorite subjects are lifetime sports and English.

Her favorite teacher is Melissa Holum. “She’s super helpful. I’ve learned a lot from her,” Fladager said.

After high school, she plans to attend the University of Montana and study pre-pharmacy.

“I’ve always been interested in the medical field,” Fladager said.
