Poplar Runners Place At Meets

Poplar’s cross country team opened its season by competing at meets in Billings and Wolf Point on Friday, Aug. 28.

At the Billings Invitational, Poplar’s boys placed 14th in the team standings with 406 points. Bozeman topped the standings with 67 points.

Leading the Indians was Jaycee Hilkemann with a time of 16:58.8 for 30th place.

Jayden Eder finished in 59th place at 17:34.5. Issac Irizarry was 96th at 18:25.5.

Mickey Failing placed 126th at 19:07.5. Dustin Smith took 138th at 19:21.0.

In the girls’ division, the Indians were 23rd with 631 points. Helena won the title with 87 points.

Kellyn Azure ran the course in 22:47.9 for 117th place.

Mila Gramling took 136th at 23:20.8 and Amelia Weeks was 145th at 23:33.5.

Audrey Swallers placed 182nd at 24:37.8. Liberty Boadle took 224th at 26:57.9.

During the meet in Wolf Point, Poplar’s Harley Daniels finished in fifth place with a time of 25:26.6.

Kelbee Redstone placed 16th at 27:56.7. Braelyn Marottek was 32nd at 31:34.5.

In the boys’ division, Isaiah Irizarry placed 44th with a time of 27:33.7.

The Indians host the Poplar Invitational on Friday, Sept. 4.
