The Scobey High School cross country program features an excellent turnout with 16 runners including nine boys and seven girls this season.

Coaches for the Spartans are Morgan Lekvold and Lindsay Maldonado.

The high school boys’ team features two seniors, two juniors, two sophomores, one freshman and two eighth graders.

The girls’ team consists of two seniors, one junior, one freshman and three eighth graders.

Seniors in the program are Shelby Cole, Ashtynn Fladager, Bryce Handran and Carter Lekvold.

Top returning runners for Scobey in the boys’ division include Tristan Lekvold, Carter Lekvold, Delbert Sones, Apollo Kramer, Handran, Jack Williams and Lucas Lekvold.

Last season, Scobey’s boys was the top Eastern C team at the state meet with 102 points for ninth place overall.

Top returning girls include Evee Berryhill, Hazel Sones, Cole and Fladager.

Scobey’s girls placed 15th with 160 points at last year’s state meet.

To quality for state this season, a girl must have a time of 30 minutes or under and a boy must have a time of 25 minutes or under.

The Spartans will open their season in Wolf Point on Friday, Aug. 28.
