It was a clean sweep for Lustre Christian as the Lions won team championships in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions at the District 3C track meet held in Glasgow on Tuesday, May 12.

The Lions repeated as boys’ champion with 168 points. Circle placed second with 124 and Scobey took third with 114 points.

Lustre’s girls earned the team title with 123 points. Circle took second with 98 and Scobey was third with 74.5.

Both of Lustre’s girls’ relay squads ran to first-place finishes. The 400-meter relay team featuring Lauryn Holzrichter, Justice Byers, Samantha Neufeld and Kencia Brown posted a winning time of 53.9 seconds. The 1600-meter relay team of Brown, Neufeld, Holzrichter and Byers finished with a time of 4:27.27.

Holzrichter, Brown and Sidney Klatt each placed second in two individual events. Holzrichter earned second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.71 seconds and second in the triple jump with a mark of 28-0. Brown took second in the javelin at 122-7 and second in the 100 at 13.33 seconds. Klatt finished second in the 1600 at 6:20.25 and second in the 3200 at 13:35.69.

Also placing second was Neufeld at 2:34.36 in the 800.

Taking third for Lustre’s girls were Byers with a time of 1:05.36 in the 400, Klatt with a time of 2:48.57 in the 800 and Holzrichter with a time of 51.8 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.

Placing fourth were Holly Hilkemann with a mark of 26-11 in the triple jump, a mark of 12-03 in the long jump and a time of 17:26.38 in the 3200, and Neufeld with a personal best time of 1:05.58 in the 400.

Taking fifth were Byers at 14.4 in the 100, Brown at 29.16 in the 200 and Hilkemann at 7:57.43 in the 1600. Byers placed sixth in the 200 with a time of 14.4 seconds.

In the boys’ division, Johnslee Pierre dominated with five first-place showings. The senior won district titles in the triple jump at 44-05, long jump at 20-07, 300-meter hurdles at 38.97 seconds, 110-meter hurdles at 15.25 seconds and 400-meter dash at 51.45 seconds.

Jaycee Hilkemann was a double-winner with firstplace finishes in the 1600 at 4:44.26 and 3200 at 10:26.95.

Prestyn Klatt was also a double-winner by finishing first in the 800 at 2:02.12 and clearing 5-6 in the high jump. The junior placed second in the 1600 at 4:48.16.

Lustre’s 1600-meter relay team of Cam Reddig, Hilkemann, Chris Traeholt and Klatt finished first with a time of 3:38.33.

Individuals placing second for the Lions were KJ Brown with a time of 11.95 seconds in the 100 and Hilkemann at 2:03.44 in the 800. The 400-meter relay team of Wheeler Damboise, Hadden Olfert, Brown and Reddig finished second at 46.27 seconds.

Damboise earned third in the long jump with a mark of 17-02.

Taking fourth were Olfert at 12.09 in the 100 and 3910 in the shot put, Reddig at 24.99 in the 200, and Traeholt in 2:06.84 in the 800 and 1608 in the long jump.

Yoseph Lee finished fifth in the 200 with a time of 26.06 seconds. Taking sixth were Damboise at 36-02 in the triple jump and Jacob Rigby at 16-0 in the long jump.

The Eastern C divisional track meet is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, in Lambert.
