Bainville Senior Profile

Bainville High School senior Chandi Johnson has achieved success in a wide variety of areas. Her involvement has included FFA, Business Professionals of America, volleyball, basketball and golf.

She qualified for the national BPA conference held in Nashville, Tenn., this year in the team events of small business management and parliamentary procedures.

Johnson said her goals for nationals include to have fun and do her best in events.

“I’ve learned how easy it is working with a team,” Johnson said of lessons learned through BPA. “We each have our strong points and weaknesses.”

Johnson’s strength on the team was her knowledge of working online.

She also enjoyed being part of FFA and especially liked floriculture where she worked with fellow students on projects.

“I like how it’s hands-on and you get to make floral arrangements,” she said.

As far as sports, Johnson has qualified for the divisional tournament in golf as a senior. She appreciates the social aspect of golfing in a group.

“I like how we’re with three or four people and get to talk,” Johnson said. “It’s fun to get those different relationships.”

Johnson says she enjoyed volleyball and basketball equally during this school year.

Highlights of the volleyball season were qualifying for divisional and the Bulldogs playing their best volleyball.

Good memories in basketball included the fun times in the locker room during the divisional tournament in Miles City. Johnson explains the team has a strong bond.

She said it was her best athletic year as an individual. “But nothing could beat last year’s team.”

In the classroom, her favorite subject is English and her favorite teacher is Sarah Morales. “She makes it fun with so many different activities to do,” Johnson said.

The senior has attended classes in Bainville since pre-school.

“Everybody is so helpful,” Johnson said of Bainville. “They support whatever we are doing.”

After high school, she plans to attend the University of Montana- Western in Dillon. She will major in elementary education.

She has wanted to become a teacher for a long time. She serves as a teacher’s aide for first, second and third graders.

“I like how they are little, but not too little,” Johnson said of the young students.
