Wolf Point, Poplar Golfers Earn Honors At Meets

Poplar hosted the nineteam Poplar Invitational at the Wolf Point Airport Golf Course on Thursday, April 30. The event featured about 80 golfers.

Top boys’ teams were Malta with a score of 328, Scobey at 340 and Glasgow at 345. Wolf Point placed seventh with a team score of 422 and Poplar was eighth at 437.

The three girls’ squads with team scores were Glasgow at 386, Glasgow at 411 and Plentywood at 465.

Malta’s Regan Stuart shot a 74 to earn medalist honors in the boys’ division. Tying for second with 77s were Fairview’s Ty Poulson and Scobey’s Cooper Axtman. Tying for fourth with 81s were Ryan Bell and Carter Rayburn, each of Chinook.

Poplar’s Lukas Young shot an 85 to tie for 10th place.

Other scores for the Indians were Royal Crawford with a 108 for 33rd place, Rollen Spotted Bull with a 117 for 37th place and Greyson Young with a 127 for 39th place.

Cole Holem led Wolf Point with a 99 for 28th place. Jesse Reed shot a 102 for 30th place.

Other scores for the Wolves were Conway Turcotte with a 109 for 34th place, Chaz Kegley with a 112 for 35th place and Aaryn Hamilton with a 120 for 38th place.

Glasgow’s Mia Peterson was medalist in the girls’ division with an 89. Scobey’s Ashtynn Fladager placed second at 93 and Scobey’s Avery Wolfe took third at 95.

Wolf Point’s Maia Kent and Malta’s Kylie Bishop tied for fourth with 97s.

McKinlee Paulson of Wolf Point finished with a 112 for 16th place.

Scores for Poplar’s girls were Frankie Crawford with a 109 for 14th place, Masina Youpee with a 119 for 23rd place and Frankie Gourneau with a 140 for 28th place.

During action in Plentywood on Friday, May 1, Wolf Point’s Kent placed second with a score of 104. Scobey’s Emerson Fladager was medalist at 100.

Poplar’s Bree Brown placed fifth with a 106. Other scores for the Indians were Youpee at 115 and Crawford at 120.

Poplar’s Young earned second-place honors in the boys’ division by shooting an 80.

Other scores for the Indians were Spotted Bull at 101, Royal Crawford at 103, Greyson Young at 120 and Kenshin Smith at 122.

Reed led Wolf Point with a 92. Tying with 99s were Holen and Turcotte.

Other scores for the Wolves were Hamilton at 106, Kegley at 114 and Richard Campbell at 124.
