Senior Profile Reed Enjoys Success in Football, Rodeo
Wolf Point High School senior Kasey Reed has enjoyed participating in football, wrestling and rodeo during the past four years.
In football, Reed has been Wolf Point’s starting quarterback for the past two seasons. On the defensive side of the ball, Reed has been a safety and linebacker.
He prefers playing offense more than defense. “I like the ball,” Reed explained.
A highlight during his career was running for 30 yards on a quarterback snack play. He said he just ran under lineman Da’Shaun Jackson’s arm the whole way.
Reed qualified for the state wrestling meet when he was only a freshman. His chances for greater success in the sport went down hill when he suffered a bicep and rotator cuff injury. He said the injury was a disappointment, but he still has been supporting his brother, Jesse, in the sport.
Kasey has excelled in wild horse racing where he along with teammates Jackson and Dusette Grandchamp have earned victories at a variety of rodeos. The first action this year will be at the Miles City Bucking Horse sale during mid-May. They are hoping for better results in Miles City than last year. “We kind of got our butts kicked,” Kasey laughed.
Along with wild horse racing activities, Reed said there is also interest in starting a saddle bronc in the Wolf Point area.
Reed has the distinction of having the longest senior trip in his class. He needed to stay an extra day in California due to a identification misunderstanding on his return flight. His mother needed to fly down to provide Kasey’s Real ID.
After high school, Reed plans to join the U.S. Marines.
His education has included attending school in Frontier for three years and then switching to Wolf Point.
“There are good teachers and it’s a good community,” Reed said of Wolf Point.
