Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 105 cases from April 7-13.
The calls included: April 7
A deputy came across four large hay bales that came off a truck on Highway 405, County Road 1010 near Froid. The deputy asked the Montana Department of Transportation to remove the bales from the road.
Deputies received a report from Bainville regarding fraudulent emails. The deputies did a report regarding the emails.
Deputies followed up on a call from the Stagecoach in Culbertson. An adult female reported that a male knocked her phone out of her hand. Law enforcement is waiting for the county attorney to review the case.
April 8
Deputies and the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice responded to Poplar’s city limits where an adult female advised that she wanted an adult male removed from her residence. During a search, the male was found hiding under a bed. FPTDLJ arrested the male and another adult female at the residence.
April 9
Deputies responded to Poplar’s tribal housing for a report of a fight. An adult female said that an adult male tried to strangle her. FPTDLJ detained the male and put him in handcuffs.
April 10
Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Police Department on a report of a possible assault. A female reported that her grandson was approached and threatened by a male and female. One of the suspects allegedly had a knife and a machete. The suspects couldn’t be located.
April 11
A deputy reported that a vehicle with an out-of-state license plate hit a patrol car on Fifth Avenue South and took off. The vehicle was located on Custer Street. The Montana Highway Patrol took over the investigation.
Deputies responded to BIA Route 1, County Road 1080 for a vehicle crash. Also responding were two FPTDLJ officers and the Montana Highway Patrol. A Dodge Ram pickup crashed in an irrigation canal. When law enforcement arrived, no one was inside the vehicle. The driver lives a short distance from the crash site. The male was found sitting on a lawn chair outside his residence. He was transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation. The Montana Highway Patrol took over the investigation.
Deputies, FPTDLJ and ambulance services responded to an assault with a weapon call in Poplar. A male victim was taken to the hospital with a severe hand injury.
April 12
Deputies responded to Fort Kipp regarding a report of a vehicle racing around the community in a reckless fashion.
