Lions Stop Circle In Semi-final Round

Lustre’s boys’ basketball team came out determined and knocked off Circle, 6736, in the Eastern C divisional tournament’s semi-final round on Friday, March 6.

The hot-shooting Lions opened the contest with the first eight points on a 14-footer and three-pointer by Johnslee Pierre and a three-pointer by Prestyn Klatt.

With the score at 10-4, Lustre kept firing as two free throws by Pierre along with three-pointers by Klatt and Cam Reddig opened up the margin to 18-4.

The Lions held a 24-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and were able to gain additional control in the second period. After Circle’s Kash Ereaux hit a three-pointer to pull the Wildcats to 26-13, Lustre struck for the game’s next 13 points. Pierre and Klatt each scored four points during the streak and C. Reddig fired in a three-pointer. Joel Reddig added a drive for two points.

Circle’s Owen Beery hit a short jumper late in the half for a 39-15 margin at intermission.

The Lions accounted for a 7-0 run during the third quarter on three points by Pierre, a drive by C. Reddig and a steal and drive by J. Reddig for a 48-18 advantage.

Lustre enjoyed a 57-25 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Leading Lustre’s scoring attack were Pierre with 25 and Klatt with 21 points. C. Reddig also reached double figures with 10 points.

Rounding out the scoring were J. Reddig with six, Diek Olfert with three and Chris Traeholt with two points.

Top scorers for Circle were Duke Williamson with 13, Beery with 12 and Xavier Nasner with eight points.
