Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball team came up against the top-ranked team in Class C on Friday, Jan. 30. Scobey took control early and won by a 69-26 final.

The visiting Spartans accounted for 25 of the game’s first 26 points. After a free throw by Wolf Point’s Zandon Calder put the score at 2-1, Scobey struck for the next 23 points. John Carney fired in three three-pointers and Cooper Axtman hit two three-pointers during the streak.

Highlights for the Wolves late in the quarter were threepoint shots by Sean Hamilton and Richard Campbell. Cole Holem tipped in a basket at the buzzer. The Wolves trailed 29-9 at the end of the opening period.

Scobey accounted for a 21-0 run in the second quarter and led 54-13 at the half.

Wolf Point opened the third quarter on a good note when Calder scored inside and Campbell hit a free throw. The period was also highlighted with two baskets by Andrew Williamson. Scobey led 63-22 at the end of the quarter.

Top scorers for Wolf Point were Campbell with seven, Calder with five and Hamilton with five.

Also scoring were Williamson with four, Holen with two, Roper Flaten with two and Stone Lilley with one.

Leading Scobey were Carney with 27, Axtman with 13 and Kolten Machart with 12 points.
