Lady Wolves Fall To Scobey In Non-Conference Contest
After a solid start, Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball team lost at home against Scobey by a 61-35 final on Friday, Jan. 30.
The Wolves gained a 4-1 lead on a free throw by Maci Fourstar and a coast-to-coast drive by Jorilynn Black Eagle. Harper Weeks fired in a three-pointer to put the margin at 7-2.
Scobey tied the game, 7-7, on a three-pointer by Emery Rouse, but a drive by Fourstar put the Wolves back on top. Wolf Point led, 9-8, at the end of the opening quarter.
The Spartans opened the second period with the first nine points with the scoring of Claire Lekvold leading the way. After Wolf Point’s Adalynn Smith hit two free throws, Scobey struck with four points by Rouse and a three-pointer by Chloe Handran. Scobey went on to hold a 26-13 half-time advantage.
Fourstar scored on a three-pointer and two drives during the third quarter to keep the Wolves fairly close at 34-20. The Spartans ended the period with the final eight points on a three-pointer by Camrie Holum and five points by Rouse for a 42-20 margin.
Scobey held as big of an advantage as 57-24 with 3:30 to play.
The scoring of Cadence Bouldin and Sophia Ricker was a highlight for the Wolves in the final minutes.
Fourstar led the Wolves with 15 points.
Also scoring were Ricker with five, Bouldin with four, Amya Martinez with three, Weeks with three, Black Eagle with two, Smith with two and Mattie Azure with one.
Leading Scobey were Rouse with 20, Handran with 11 and Holum with nine.
The Wolves will travel to Poplar on Friday and host Harlem on Saturday.
