Wolves Fall To Malta

The Wolf Point Wolves dropped both District 2B basketball games in Malta on Saturday, Jan. 17.

In the girls’ game, Wolf Point lost by a 71-34 margin.

The scoring of Maci Fourstar helped the Wolves stay close in the first half. Wolf Point trailed 17-9 at the end of the first quarter and 32-25 at intermission.

Malta accounted for 25 points in the third quarter to grab a 57-30 advantage.

Fourstar finished with 14 points to lead the Wolves.

Also scoring were Mattie Azure with six, Sophie Ricker with five, Jorilyn Black Eagle with three, Marley Moran with two, Harper Weeks with two and Amya Martinez with two.

Leading Malta were Denvyr Tuss with 15, Tailynn Wilke with 14, Neva Jacobson with 13 and Hailey Welch with 13 points.

In the boys’ game, Malta scored a 96-49 victory over the Wolves.

Malta took a 32-15 lead in the first quarter and held a 5735 half-time advantage.

The Mustangs scored 24 points in the third quarter for an 81-39 margin.

Wolf Point’s top scorers were Sean Hamilton with 17 and Stone Lilley with seven points.

Coach Cole Hanks said that Richard Campbell also had a good game for the Wolves.

Top scorers for Malta were Dawson Hammond with 23, Kazner Oxarart with 20, Kruise Stiles with 15 and Jace Tollefson with 12.

The Wolves will host Fairview on Friday, Jan. 23, and head to Glasgow on Saturday, Jan. 24.
