Indians Down Plentywood
The Poplar Indians swept conference basketball games in Plentywood on Saturday, Jan. 17.
In the boys’ game, the Indians earned a 64-59 victory.
Poplar held only a 42-41 lead after three quarters of play before striking for 22 points in the fourth period.
Top scorers for the Indians were Chasen Pribbernow with 19, Dane Moran with 15, Wilder Bearcub with 13 points and Chance Pribbernow with 11 points.
Rounding out the scoring were Ryder Olson with four, Stephen Smoker with one and Easton Grey Bear with one.
Leading Plentywood were Anderson Kaul with 18, Landon Flickinger with 15, Will Shackelford with 12 and Tristan Tommerup with 10.
In the girls’ game, Poplar posted a 41-28 victory.
The Indians jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the first quarter and held a 20-13 half-time advantage.
Ashlyn Bull Chief scored 13 points to lead the Indians.
Also scoring were Frankie Gourneau with nine, Journey Gourneau with seven, Braelyn Nordwick with five, Toni Brown with two and Naya Moran with two.
Top scorers for the Wildcats were Keira Kelm with 11 and April McCabe with 10 points.
