Brockton Boys Stop Bainville, 87-55
Brockton accounted for a dominating first quarter and defeated Bainville, 87-55, in District 2C boys’ basketball play in Brockton on Saturday, Jan. 17.
Brockton’s full-court pressure and hot shooting led the Warriors to a 30-5 advantage in the opening quarter.
A three-point play by Colter Nygard, a three-pointer by Tefton Bear and a steal and layup by Miles Boxer were among the highlights as Brockton gained a 15-2 lead.
Boxer then connected on consecutive three-pointers for a 21-2 margin. The Warriors added points on a three-pointer by Jarid Fast Horse and a drive by Bear end the near of the period.
Two more three-pointers by Boxer helped Brockton gain a 40-7 lead early in the second quarter.
Fast Horse ended the half with a three-pointer for a 5319 advantage.
Bainville enjoyed more success in the second half as the shooting of Holden Salivar and a three-pointer by Evan Anderson led the Bulldogs to a strong start in the third quarter.
A short jumper by Parker Berwick and a three-pointer by Rowan Wilson closed the gap to 61-34. Brockton held a 69-39 lead at the end of the period.
Fast Horse connected on a pair of three-pointers in the fourth period to increase the margin to 81-46 midway into the fourth period.
Leading Brockton’s attack were Fast Horse with 29 and Boxer with 25 points.
Also scoring were Bear with nine, Ronnie Blackdog with eight, Nygard with seven, Codean BigEagle with five, Charlie Firemoon with two and Weston Lambert with two.
Top scorers for the Bulldogs were Salivar with 19 and Berwick with 18. Also scoring were Anderson with nine, Wilson with six and Kaiden Holmes with three.
