Lustre Christian Earns Victory Over Poplar, 88-53
The Lustre Christian Lions displayed their outstanding quickness to post an 88-53 non-conference boys’ basketball win in Poplar on Saturday, Jan. 3.
The Lions came out hot as three-pointers by Prestyn Klatt and six points by Cam Reddig led the way to an 11-2 lead.
Wilder Bearcub kept the Indians close at 16-9, but Lustre’s Joel Reddig scored six of the quarter’s final eight points for a 22-11 lead.
A dunk, off a lob pass, by Johnslee Pierre fired up the Lustre fans to open the second quarter.
Bearcub hit a three-pointer to put the score at 27-16 with 5:46 left in the second period, but the Lions then exploded for the next 10 points on a 15-footer by Klatt, a drive by Pierre, a hoop by Diek Olfert, a steal and drive by C. Reddig and another dunk by Pierre for a 37-16 margin.
The visiting Lions went on to hold a 42-21 half-time lead.
The scoring of Chasen Pribbernow pulled the Indians as close as 15 points during the third quarter. Lustre responded with the next eight points on two drives by J. Reddig along with baskets by Klatt and C. Reddig.
Lustre held a 63-38 advantage at the end of the third quarter and scored 25 more points in the fourth period.
Top scorers for the Lions were J. Reddig with 23, Pierre with 15, Klatt with 14 and C. Reddig with 12 points.
Also scoring were Hadden Olfert with eight, D. Olfert with seven, Chris Traeholt with seven and Gunner Damboise with two. Leading Poplar were Chasen Pribbernow with 16 and Bearcub with 12 points.
Rounding out the scoring were Xhaiden Bull Chief with seven, Chance Pribbernow with five, Dane Moran with five, Anthony Youngman with three, Ryder Olson with two and Colton Dupree with two.
Lustre will host Frazer on Saturday, Jan. 10.
Poplar travels to Glasgow on Friday, Jan. 9, and to Wolf Point on Saturday, Jan. 10.
