Temperatures have moderated this week, with a cool 47 degrees Wednesday morning, and 64 degrees on Friday at 7:15 a.m. before bus times. We look forward to the 80’s again next week for farmers in the wheat fields. High winds were the feature of Thursday, from in the night throughout the day. Joan Small, 85, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at Faith Home in Wolf Point. A prayer service will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m. at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wolf Point. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wolf Point. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.

Palmer amaranth, a weed agricultural interests are desperately trying to prevent becoming established in Montana, was found last month near a grain silo in Hill County. Agricultural groups, including those working at Montana State University Extension, have been closely tracking the weed, which is notably resistant to herbicides. Word traveled quickly when an FWP hatchery truck pulled up to Spotted Eagle Lake in Miles City and dropped 150 catchable largemouth bass near the shoreline. FWP uses fish transfers for a few reasons.
