Matejovsky, Escarcega Win State Titles


Roosevelt County has reason to be proud with two high school wrestlers capturing state titles at the girls’ state wrestling meet held in Billings. Wolf Point’s eighth-grader Annaleigh Matejovsky at 120 pounds and Poplar’s senior Angelina Escarcega at 100 pounds earned gold medals during action on Saturday, Feb. 15. Wolves Knock Off Poplar, 56-50


Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball team enjoyed excellent shooting in the first half and fought off Poplar, 56-50, to end the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 15. The three-point shooting of Roper Flaten and Jett Azure led the Wolves to a 22-13 advantage in the first quarter. Improvements Continue On Buffalo Trail


Improvements continue to be made to attract tourists to the buffalo trail on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation located north of Poplar. During 2024, the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes were the recipients of a fouryear, $5 million grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
