Roosevelt County DUI Task Force Scholarship Available

This year the Roosevelt County DUI Task Force is offering a scholarship of $500 to any high school senior graduating in 2025 from a school within the boundaries of Roosevelt County. The focus of this year’s scholarship is to write an essay on how the student chooses to live above the influence of alcohol use, drug use, peer pressure, bullying, or any other negative influences around them.

Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 8, began a number of bad weather days, with rain freezing to the gravel, as well as making slick highways. Monday brought a snow and Tuesday was foggy all day. Bainville Boys Down Froid/Lake In Conference Action

Bainville fought off Froid/ Lake, 48-40, in District 2C boys’ basketball action in Froid on Saturday, Jan. 11. The Bulldogs held a 2925 lead entering the fourth quarter and used a threepoint shot by Seth Pacovsky to get off to a good start in the final period. After a three-pointer by Rowan Wilson and a basket off a rebound by Carter Pacovsky increased the margin to 36-28, the Red Hawks

The Bulldogs ended the third period with the last five points on a pair of free throws by Elsie Wilson and a three-pointer by Addison Hansen to take a 29-26 lead. Cowboys Outscore Brockton, 65-40

Culbertson’s boys’ basketball squad got back on the winning track with a 65-40 home victory over Brockton on Saturday, Jan. 11. Ahead by only an 11-10 margin, the Cowboys accounted for the last nine points of the first quarter on a layup by Bridger Salvevold, a free throw by Mark Kirkaldie, a 16-footer by Brooks Solem, a steal and drive by Gavin Deen and a pull-up jumper by Plenny Williams.
