TEB Approves Tribal Health Interns
The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board held its regular meeting June 9.
The board approved the Fort Peck Manufacturing Board of Directors’ request for funding from the finance committee in the amount of $123,000 via the revolving loan fund needed in order to cover specific past expenses and continued operations until all contracts dry up.

Gerald Jensen
Gerald Christian Jensen, 78, died June 1, 2025, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Plentywood.
He was born on June 22, 1946, in Plentywood to Elsie and Christian (Chris) Jensen, the youngest of four children. He grew up in Medicine Lake, where he attended school and enjoyed playing a lot of backyard baseball with the other kids in the neighborhood. While in school, he worked diligently perfecting his first love, the drums, playing and touring with many different bands over the years. He graduated from Medicine Lake High School as a Honker in June 1964 and set out to attend Montana State University in Bozeman. He graduated from MSU in March 1969 with a bachelor of science in commerce degree.
Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from Jan. 31, 1970, to Dec. 17, 1970. He earned several medals for his service, including the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Upon returning home, he married Barbara Soderholm in 1975. They had two children, Karolyn “Kari” and Erik. After 12 years of marriage, they divorced. In 1981, he purchased the Eight Ball Inn, embarking on a 44-year journey as a bar owner. On July 4, 1992, he married Lori Berntson, blending their families and helping to raise Lori's three children: Chad, Justin and Bobbie.
He was known for his love of sports, particularly baseball. Growing up, he played in the Big Muddy Baseball League and later coached Little League and played softball. He was also active in the high school track program as the announcer for district and divisional meets in the area. His passion for the New York Yankees was well-knownr.
He served as quartermaster of VFW Post 8869 and was instrumental in organizing events honoring veterans in his community.
He is survived by his wife, Lori; children, Kari, Erik, Chad, Justin and Bobbie; 12 grandchildren; and his siblings, Lee, Ellen and Laurel.
Services will be held at the Medicine Lake Fire Hall on June 25 at 11 a.m. with military services to follow at the Medicine Lake Cemetery.

Lewistown Duo Wins Catfish Classic
Bryon Armour and Ty Thomas, both of Lewistown, won the 26th Annual Milk River Catfish Classic in Glasgow earlier this month. The duo weighed in 31.35 pounds on five channel cats to secure their first ever title.
Final results were as follows: Jason Flaten (Elko, Nev.) and Glasgow’s Chad Dawson took second place with 30.48, followed by Bo Boreson (Perrysville, Ind.) and Vance Anderson, of Glasgow,

Kelly Crowe
Kelly Crowe, 59, of Poplar died June 8, 2025, in Poplar.
He was born Nov. 18, 1965, in Poplar to Shirley Perry and Quentin Butch Crowe.
In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad, uncles and brothers and there was always a good story to be told after each adventure and full freezers for family members.
Most of his life was spent working in construction which was a trade that his dad had taught him. He also drove truck for Nygard Farms and other farmers during harvest season. He enjoyed working on vehicles and giving his mechanical advice to whomever would listen.
He and his big brother, Robin, were inseparable. They were always together. Where one was the other wasn’t far behind.
He is survived by his children, Kristen Crowe, David Crowe and Deneya Longtree; five granddaughters; sister, Susie Perry; and brothers, Eddie Crowe and Quincy Crowe.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robin Perry.
His funeral service was held Tuesday, June 17, at the James Black Dog Center in Fort Kipp. Interment followed at the Fort Kipp Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point was entrusted with the arrangements.
