Frazer Prepares For School Year
Officials at the Frazer School District are excitedly looking forward to positive changes as they enter the school year. The first day of school in Frazer is Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Superintendent Sarah Ruff is pleased that the school’s new principal is Shiloh Seymour. Her background includes administrative experience in Harlem and Box Elder.
“She brings a wealth of knowledge,” Ruff said. “She has been a principal for many years. She’s a great addition.”
Frazer’s teaching staff will feature a few international instructors from The Philippines this year. The school will probably be about 90 percent fully staffed on the first day of school until the international teachers arrive in a couple of weeks to reach 100 percent.
“Raising The Bar For Voice and Choice” is the school’s theme this year. The school district will focus on providing new opportunities through intervention and enhancement programs.
On Fridays, students will take part in Enrichment Fridays where they will be involved in various clubs. Those clubs for grades 7-12 might include topics such as engineering, Native dance, National History Day and photography. Clubs for younger students will include crafts, engineering, STEM, chess and board games.
Ruff explained a goal for the school year is for students to explore who they are in order to make good career choices.
Frazer will also expand its pre-kindergarten program to include 3 year olds joining 4 year olds this year. There are still openings for the program. Registration deadline is Sept. 15.
“We’re really excited about it,” Ruff said. “We’re really been thoughtful about the curriculum.”
Frazer will hold a community barbecue to meet teachers on Tuesday, Aug. 19, starting at 11:30 a.m.
Each month, a leadership lunch is offered where community members can visit with Ruff and Seymour to discuss school matters.
The school’s actual building features improvements include fresh paint and hallway additions.
“We’re looking forward to a great year,” Ruff said.
