Free Concert Announced For Roosevelt County Fair


County and Christian music artist Chad Bushnell will provide a free concert at the Roosevelt County Fair on Friday, Aug. 8. According to his website, Bushnell displays the American Spirit in his lyrics and melodies. Sandra Birthmark


Sandra Birthmark, “Medicine Helper Woman”, 70, of Poplar died July 19, 2025. She was born to Eunice Alfrey and Clarence Birthmark on Aug. 26, 1954, in Poplar. She was raised in Fort Kipp, and later moved to Brockton, then Poplar. She was a part of the Bad Temper Bear Clan. She loved attending church, pow-wows and family gatherings. In her early days, she sang with her mother and two sisters with their drum group. She loved to travel and meet new people and have a good conversation. She loved to visit on the phone and pray for relatives and friends. She liked to make a joke here and there. She was always ready to listen and give advice where she could and brought comfort to those in need. She is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Lavern Alfrey; siblings, Charon Owens, Diane Chase, Lynn Birthmark, Darryl Birthmark, James Birthmark, Joyce Birthmark, Clarice Birthmark, Sheldon Birthmark, Nolan Birthmark and Kermit Birthmark; and grandson, Scott Harrington. Her funeral service was held Wednesday, July 23, at the Assembly of God Church in Poplar. Interment was at the Poplar City Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point.
