Tristin Edward Vandall, 22, of Cedar City, Utah, died July 31, 2025, near Modena, Utah. Born to Troy and Melani (Garsjo) Vandall on Nov. 14, 2002, he came out running — so much so that the doctors sized him up as a threemonth-old. Just 18 months later, he was joined by his sister, Tarin, whom he fondly called “Baby T.” The two shared a close bond that only deepened as they navigated life’s adventures on their own paths. Raised in northeastern Montana, he developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors through time spent with his dad, grandfather Larry and close friends. From early deer hunts to harvesting a bull elk solo during his first archery season, he embraced nature with grit and independence. He was often drawn to the hills — frequently finding himself stuck in mud or snow, but always determined to head back out for another adventure. After graduating high school independently, he moved 1,200 miles south to Cedar City to attend Southern Utah University. He completed the aircraft maintenance technician program and was continuing his studies in engineering technology, often nerding out with his mother with modeling and 3D print projects. He quickly built a new circle of friends in Utah, whom he cherished deeply, while staying connected with his Montana crew. Betty Jean Lamphier, 96, died at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. She was born Feb. 23, 1929, to parents Andy and Hazel Schlenz in Poplar. She attended Breezy Flats School until she graduated from eighth grade. She helped her parents on the farm until she moved to Sidney with her sister Mona and worked at the Sidney Dry Cleaners. She married Clifford R. Lamphier on March 18, 1950, and they had six children, Dwight, Gloria, LaMont, Milo, Luanne and Tammy. She worked at home taking care of the family and household. There was not much that she could not do inside or outside the family home. From taking care of the animals, building fence, changing an electrical outlet, canning, sewing, baking bread, making butter, cooking — you name it she could do it and do it well. Once all the children were in school, she worked at the LaLonde Hotel because it was “too quiet” at home. After the children were grown and Clifford retired, she went to work for the Sidney Public Schools as a custodian for 10 years until her retirement. Ruth “Dolly” F. Lambert, 76, of Culbertson died Friday, July 25, 2025, at Trinity Regional Hospital in Minot, N.D. She was born Oct. 23, 1948, in Poplar to Clarence and Emma (Moran) Lambert. Though baptized as Ruth, she was affectionately called Dolly by friends and family. She attended school in Culbertson and graduated from high school in 1967. After high school, she went on to study education at Montana State University Northern in Havre. Once she earned her degree, she returned to Culbertson where she worked at Poplar Daycare, Montana Bar and Culbertson School. In 1973, she welcomed her only son, David. While living in Culbertson, she enjoyed spending time with her sisters, quilting, canning, gardening and participating in a bowling league. In 1987, she and her son moved to Trenton, N.D. There, she began working for the Trenton Indian Service Area. She enrolled in Williston College where she obtained bachelor’s degree. Over the years, she held various roles, including CHR, housing clerk and eventually director of Trenton Housing. Dolly retired from her position at Trenton Housing in 2015. During her time in Trenton, she continued to enjoy quilting,
