Poplar Sweeps Weekend Games

Poplar’s girls’ basketball team exploded for 22 points in the first quarter and downed Lame Deer at the tournament in Lockwood on Friday, Dec. 12.

The Indians earned a 22-5 lead in the first quarter. Saydee Archambault scored six points for the Indians in the period. Frankie Gourneau and Ashlyn Bull Chief added five points each.

Poplar then struck for 19 more points in the second period for a 41-15 lead. Braelyn Nordwick tallied 15 points and hit two three-pointers in the quarter.

Top scorers for the Indians were Nordwick with 24, Archambault with 16 and Gourneau with 11 points. Adding eight points each were Bull Chief and Emma Brown.

The Indians then downed Lodge Grass by a 56-49 margin on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Poplar trailed 32-29 at the half. The Indians earned a 4240 lead in the third quarter.

Poplar outscored Lodge Grass by a 14-9 margin in the fourth period.

Top scorers for the Indians were Nordwick with 16, Makenzie Crawford with 14 and Gourneau with 12.
